Going nowhere: Ward signs new deal with Wolves

Mick McCarthy praised the Irish player’s professionalism, after he extended his contract to 2015.

WOLVES AND IRELAND defender Stephen Ward has extended his current contract, in a move that will tie him to Wolves until 2015.

His previous deal was due to expire in 2013, however a series of fine performances have prompted the club to reward him with a new contract.

Speaking to the official Wolves website following confirmation of the deal, manager Mick McCarthy said the defender’s reward was merited on the basis of his recent performances:

“Since arriving from Bohemians, he has just got better and better and is a top professional who never stops working.

“He’s made a great start to this season, not only in the defensive side but also by chipping in with a couple of goals, and he has been rewarded with this new deal.”

The 26-year-old has been a regular fixture in the side’s first team since joining the club from Bohemians in January 2007.
