Ginola hospitalised following ski accident - reports

The former French international footballer was hospitalised with a throat injury and bruising yesterday, according to reports in France.

PREMIER LEAGUE LEGEND David Ginola was hospitalised with a throat injury and bruising following a skiing accident in France yesterday.

Ginola, 45, was on the slopes in the Portes du Mont Blanc resort yesterday when he collided with another skiier, French newspaper Le Dauphine reports. Doctors allowed him to return to his hotel room after a short period of observation last night.

Ginola, who had successful spells with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in his playing days, is in the region for the famous Megève Winter Golf Trophy, which runs over eight days from 5-12 February.

He had been expected to take part in the second annual edition of the Champions Trophy, a nine-hole “snow golf” tournament featuring some of France’s top sporting figures, but was advised to withdraw by doctors following the incident.

“It’s a huge disappointment that he will no longer be coming,” a tournament organiser told the Daily Mail. “David had a very nasty accident in Portes du Mont Blanc.”
