PAT GILROY WAS critical of his Dublin players, following their 1-14 to 0-11 defeat to arch nemeses Kerry at Croke Park on Saturday night.
The All-Ireland champions were poor throughout the second half and the team’s manager lamented the fact that his charges kept giving the ball away in their league opener under lights.
Gilroy told RTÉ: “We are very disappointed we didn’t perform at all in the second-half.
“We weren’t at the races and giving the ball far away too much. Our work-rate wasn’t what it should have been. We know we have plenty to do and that is for certain.”
Declan O’Sullivan scored the only goal of the game as Kerry dominated possession, while Dublin had Eamon Fennell sent off for a violent elbow on Bryan Sheehan.
“When you are giving the ball away as much as we were, then you could say we were getting tired. I think that was a big factor, we weren’t retaining the ball or winning it around the middle.”
