BAYERN MUNICH MIDFIELDER Bastian Schweinsteiger is back in the Germany fold ahead of the trip to Dublin next week.
Jogi Loew named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Sweden earlier today.
Schweinsteiger missed out on the team’s first two group ties with a slight knock but after a run of three goals in the Bundesliga in recent games, he gets the nod for the Aviva Stadium visit.
“We did not choose him last time for a reason and that was to give him a chance in peace and quiet to get back into a training and match rhythm,” said Low today. ”His performances with Bayern have shown that this was precisely the right choice. I am delighted that Bastian is back with us. It was always certain that Bastian would be in the squad for Ireland and Sweden.”
Germany take on Ireland in Dublin on this day week at Lansdowne Rd before taking on the Swedes in Berlin the following Tuesday. Giovanni Trapattoni’s side will face the Faroe Islands on the same night.
The Boys in Green opened their qualification bid with a late, late win in Astana over Kazakhstan.
“We have already laid the foundations for the qualification, but now it gets very serious,” Low said. “We know that we are favourites in the group and that is why we want to be successful in both of these games. We know what to expect in terms of the atmosphere in Dublin. The Irish will give everything in front of their own fans to beat us in their own stadium.”
