No explanation for Germany failure, says Real superstar Kroos

The lads are baffled.

GERMANY MIDFIELDER Toni Kroos has slammed the lapses of concentration that cost his side two points against Ireland last night.

The world champions were far from their best in Gelsenkirchen, but a 25-yard strike from the Real Madrid star looked set to secure them victory, only for John O’Shea to score a dramatic equaliser.

The former Bayern Munich man was left frustrated by the result and said there was no excuse for the way his team-mates played after going 1-0 in front.

“We’re incredibly disappointed,” he is quoted as saying by the DFB’s official website.

“That was needless as we played well for long periods. But once we went in front we started doing everything differently.

“There’s no explaining it. But for long spells, we showed what we’re capable of.”

Mario Gotze, meanwhile, was similarly disappointed with his side’s failure to see out the game after being less than a minute from three points.

“It’s unbelievably frustrating. It was pretty much a sure thing,” he added.

“We have the ability and the possibility to win the game. It’s just so frustrating that it ended like that.”

The result at the Veltins Arena capped a disappointing international break for Joachim Low’s side, who also lost against Poland on Saturday despite dominating the game.
