George North scorches in 80-metre try as Saints hunt Leinster

The Welsh winger was in unstoppable form at the Liberty Stadium.

NORTHAMPTON SAINTS BEAT Ospreys 29-17 at the Liberty Stadium to give themselves an outside chance of stealing ahead of Leinster as Pool 1 winners.

The Premiership side roared into a 17-3 lead over Ospreys after 42 minutes following four Steve Meyler penalties and a wonder try from George North.

The former Scarlets winger received the ball on the edge of his 22 and fended off two tackles before blazing up the left flank and sliding over to score.

The Welsh side hit back with tries from Rhys Webb and captain Alun-Wyn Jones but further Saints scores from Geirge Pisi and sub Glenn Dickson settled the tie.

Saints are now on 13 points, four behind Leinster, and take on Castres at Franklin’s Gardens next weekend. They will need Ospreys to upset the Irish side while seeking a bonus point win themselves.

North believes Saints have done well to keep themselves in the hunt for the knock-out stages after losing to Castres and Leinster in two of their opening three fixtures. They go into next weekend, says North, with fingers crossed. “For us, it’s all or nothing now,” he declared.
