George Hook plans end to TV career in 2015, radio in 2016

The Newstalk presenter announced his plans via Twitter this afternoon.

SPORT AND CURRENT affairs broadcaster George Hook has this afternoon announced plans to retire by the end of 2016.

The 72-year-old presents Newstalk’s drive-time current affairs show, The Right Hook, and is also a long-standing pundit on RTE’s rugby coverage.

Hook today tweeted that he will ‘leave TV’ after next year’s Rugby World Cup in England is completed. The Corkman’s current contract with Newstalk runs up until September 2016, at which point he will leave the station aged 75.
