STRUGGLING AIRTRICITY LEAGUE side Galway United will make all their players available to be sold once the summer transfer window opens, it has been announced.
The announcement was made after the club held talks with the Professional Footballers Association of Ireland with regard to their financial plight.
The club, who have lost their last 14 games on the trot, thanked their “players, supporters, sponsors and the Galway FA for their support and patience over the past few weeks” in a statement today.
A fundraising campaign is also being organised to help improve their finances. The campaign will begin with a Flag Day in Galway city centre this Saturday.
The club currently lie bottom of the Airtricity League, with only five points from 19 games and six points behind second-bottom Drogheda.
The news comes ahead of a crucial set of fixtures, as they travel to face Dundalk on Friday, before their home match against fellow strugglers UCD the following week.
