GALWAY FC FINISHED the season with a flourish claiming a smashing SSE Airtricity League promotion/relegation play off final second leg success at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Goals from Gary Shanahan, Ryan Manning, and Alex Byrne ensure the Tribesmen, who will be named Galway United next season, thumped the Students.

Tommy Dunne’s charges hit the front on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a fine goal from Shanahan, who delivered a purposeful performance on the right.

UCD were struggling to contain Galway, who pounced for a second goal in the 72nd minute. Native New Yorker Jake Keegan was denied by a smart Conor O’Donnell save, but Republic of Ireland under 19 international Ryan Manning scored the rebound.
