Galway's Michael Meehan scores a goal while facing 10 Cork players on the line

The Caltra man fired a bullet to the net in Croke Park today.

HE MAY HAVE ended up on the losing side in Croke Park today but Michael Meehan cannot be faulted for his performance for the Galway footballers.

And right up until the finish, he kept trying to find a way to bring his side back into contention.

Cork had 10 players on the goal line as Meehan placed the ball on the 20-yard line in the 72nd minute for a free.

But that didn’t stop the Galway man from smashing a thunderbolt to the net to bring his personal tally to 1-6 for the day.

Yet time ran out as referee David Gough blew the final whistle shortly after as Cork claimed a 1-17 to 1-16 victory in the Round 4 qualifier clash.
