Galway FC score first leg victory over Shelbourne in First Division play-off

Tommy Dunne’s side inched ever closer to the top-flight through goals from Ryan Connolly and Gary Shanahan.

Galway FC 2-0 Shelbourne

TOMMY DUNNE’S GALWAY FC scored early in the first-half and late in the second to get the better of Shelbourne at a damp and dreary Eamonn Deacy Park earlier tonight in the first leg of their First Division play-off.

Ryan Connolly scored from the penalty spot on 18 minutes after Shels’ goalkeeper Nathan Murphy fouled inside the area.

The win was wrapped up when Gary Shanahan tucked the ball away with five minutes to go and put the Tribesmen in the driving seat ahead of the return fixture at Tolka Park next Friday.
