A MAN WHO knows a thing or two about winning All-Irelands, Kerry legend Jack O’Shea has called for Paul Galvin to start against Dublin in this year’s decider.
A season dogged by injury has seen Galvin restricted to just one Championship start — against Limerick in the All-Ireland quarter-finals — with Kingdom boss Jack O’Connor preferring to use his star playmaker sparingly as an impact sub.
But with the Finuge dynamo likely to be fully fit for the showdown with the Dubs on Sunday week, O’Shea feels that he should be a sure-fire starter in the half-forward line.
“There is a school of thought that Galvin is better used as an impact sub,” the legendary midfielder told reporters yesterday, “but if you’re such a talented player and a fella of his temperament, it could be negative if you didn’t pick him.”
He’s been through it before, which is vital on the big occasion, and I think they’ll go for that.
If Galvin is recalled, Donnchadh Walsh, who has been held to just two points in his five Championship starts this season, could find himself dropped to the bench.
Personally I don’t think Paul Galvin should be allowed play the sport! His record speaks for itself and the fish hooking of Cadogan was just final proof that he’s a bit of a scumbag.
But that’s my personal opinion. I also think the GAA are shocking when it comes to disciplinary matters in general.
He’s the best impact sub in the game.. Put him on for the second half when the Dubs usually try to kick on…like against Wexford and Donegal. He will come off the bench and win the game for the Kingdom.
