Here’s your GAA coverage on TV and radio this weekend

All you need to know to help plan your weekend listening and viewing.

IT’S ANOTHER BIG weekend of live GAA coverage with two provincial football titles up for decision as well as two football qualifiers and a Round Two hurling qualifier.

Sky Sports continue their coverage of Gaelic football and hurling with two games on Saturday while RTÉ will have both provincial deciders on Sunday.

Here’s a breakdown of what you need to tune in for over the weekend.

Saturday

All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers Round 3B
Roscommon v Armagh, Dr. Hyde Park, 5pm

The Sky Sports cameras will be busy on Saturday with the first stop being Dr. Hyde Park in Roscommon as the Rossies play host to the 2002 All-Ireland winners. Peter Canavan will take his usual spot as the primary studio analyst.

Newstalk’s Off the Ball will also have live coverage of the game with Oisin Langan on commentary, Brian McGuigan and Shane Curran on co-commentary while Billy Joe Padden will bring all the news from the sidelines. Shannonside Radio will be providing local coverage of the game.

All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers Round 3B
Clare v Kildare, Cusack Park, 7pm

This is probably the hardest game of the weekend to catch as it won’t feature on any live national TV or radio station though there will be updates from RTÉ Radio One’s Saturday Sport.

The game will, however, be featured on both Clare FM and KFM with the latter having former Kildare stars Peter McConnon and Aindriú MacLochlainn providing analysis from Cusack Park.

All-Ireland SHC Qualifiers Round 2
Waterford v Wexford, Nowlan Park, 7pm

The Sky Sports crew will also be live from Nowlan Park for the only senior hurling fixture of the weekend as Waterford and Wexford clash in Round 2 of the qualifiers. Jamesie O’Connor will once again be the lead analyst and expect lots of giant iPad action.

Locally, there will live coverage on WLR FM from 6.45pm where Kieran O’Connor and Brian Flannery will be providing the commentary while, once again, RTÉ Radio One’s Saturday Sport will bring updates.

Sunday

Leinster SFC final
Dublin v Meath, Croke Park, 2pm

The Delaney Cup is the first senior piece of silverware up from grabs on Sunday and RTÉ’s The Sunday Game Live will have all the action from Croke Park as Meath look to upset the odds. Michael Lyster will present coverage ably assisted by Messrs Spillane, Brolly and company.

RTÉ Radio One will also have coverage of the game while Newstalk David Brady at Croke Park and Colm Begley on studio analysis duty.

Ulster SFC final
Donegal v Monaghan, Clones, 4pm

It’ll be double pay for the RTÉ Two lads as The Sunday Game Live will also cover the Ulster SFC decider from Clones where Monaghan look to win back-to-back titles for the first time in over sixty years.

Newstalk will have live coverage of the game with Dave McIntyre on commentary, Sean Cavanagh and Tony Boyle on co-commentary and Colm Parkinson on sideline duty, while the game will also feature on Highland Radio.

A year older and a year wiser – are Meath finally ready to take down the Dubs?

I wonder how long it takes him to sign a few Irish in Bristol? Not saying it’s a bad thing but as he said he knows how good some of these players are

@RMcG: fair point I forgot about him but I was taking more about young players maybe second in line at their clubs.

I’m delighted for marmion. He got total of 6 minutes in the first two south African tests and was then replaced for the third by a player who had just announced his international retirement. He was clearly a player who deserved better than that and it took an injury to Murray to get his chance to show it. Still prefer Murray but Al least now we know that we have two 9s and 10s capable of playing.

@Chris Mcdonnell: Chris this Alan b is like a sepsis on the 42. He lives on the soccer articles spewing about Man U or Liverpool can’t tell which as I don’t engage and now unfortunately he has infected the rugby comments.
My advice would be not to acknowledge him and hopefully he gets a job or something in the meantime

There is no better preparation for playing Test Rugby, than actually playing test rugby. Critical that Murray has a deputy that is totally armed top step in when required. But is should not require injury to Murray for Marmion (or AN Other scrumhalf) to get sufficient game time to progress…

Marmion should be considered just as “cover” for Murray. He’s a different type of player and one that should be used when the strategy is complimented by his skillset. His consistent speed of delivery is top-drawer and he has the speed and eye for a gap to keep fringe defenses from taking short-cuts.

@Dennis Laffey: indeed it’s his eye for a gap that sets him apart from Murray. Marmion is such a nuggety little player, bristles with intent with or without the ball. If your an opposition nine he must drive you demented….

For me Murray rarely breaks whether it’s strategy or. choice, but it’s an oddity for a nine of his size who is by no means slow.

But it astonishes me given how much team’s target Sexton, that he doesn’t carry the ball up more himself and keep opposition backrows guessing….
