ALL THE SUN this week went to our heads a little bit and, during one particularly giddy break in TheScore.ie HQ, we found ourselves asking: if GAA counties were ice creams, what would they be?
We got stuck after seven or eight so there should be plenty of scope if any of you want to chip in and help out.
Here’s what we’ve got so far:
Kerry — 99
The traditionalists’ favourite.
Carlow — Loop the Loop
It’s the colours, innit?
[Unilever]
Choc Ice — Meath
Melts away quickly in the summer sun.
[Tumblr]
Kildare — Big Bite (the ice cream formerly known as the Golly Bar)
All white? Alright.
Mayo — Screwball
Promises a lot but invariably disappoints when you get to the end.
[Luuux]
Dublin — Brunch
Adored by many, despised by the rest.
[Unilever]
Cork — Cornetto
An ice cream which thinks it’s better than the rest and isn’t afraid to let you know.
[Journalsandcoffeeshopthoughts]
Donegal — Iceberger
Doesn’t look great but gets the job done.
If Cork was an Ice Cream it would eat itself!
Surely Carlow is more Fruit Pastille Lolly than Loop the Loop
Offaly would be a Maxi Twist……great in the 80′s but now languishing in the bottom of the freezer!!
Limerick would be a twister, pure shite!!!! :)
99 analogy is about right. A bit flakey at the moment and invariably gets sunk by icebergers from the North.
article apparently only consider’s football counties as “GAA”
Roscommon – Mini Magnum : gone in 1 or 2 bites, but still love them.
Galway – a wibbly wobbly wonder .
A loop the loop, but with the status of a Magnum.
I guess Barcelona would be an iceberger too :-)
