THE GAA ARE set to invest €9m in a new high performance facility for the association at the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown.
The association has confirmed this morning that the development work is set to commence in the coming weeks and will be ready for use by September 2014.
The new facility will include four full-size pitches including one to the scale of Croke Park, a full-size 3G training facility and a hurling wall.

A state-of-the-art pavilion will be constructed to include 10 changing rooms, a viewing gallery for 350 people and ancillary space to cater for offices, meeting rooms, physiotherapy, a gym and a canteen.
Parking spaces for 256 cars and eights coaches have also been included for the facility that will also serve as a national training centre for Camogie and Ladies football and caters for the needs of counties, clubs, schools and colleges in Dublin and the greater Leinster area.
The GAA has worked in conjunction with the National Sports Campus Development Authority to develop these facilities and the GAA will be one of 20 national sporting bodies operating from the Campus
Leo Varadkar – Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport
“I am really excited that the GAA is coming to the Campus. It is the first of the four major field sports organisations to develop training facilities on site. I want to congratulate them on their decision and to assure them of the support and assistance of the Government with their development.”
Liam O’Neill – GAA President
“It is fitting that the GAA should take its place alongside the other 19 national sporting bodies who will have a presence at the impressive new Campus I am pleased that teams from across Ireland – and indeed those visiting from overseas – will have access to these excellent facilities to further enhance their preparation for competing in our games at every level.”
Sean Benton – Chairman of NSCDA
“This is a very significant investment by the GAA and represents another huge step forward in the ongoing development of world-class training facilities at the National Sports Campus.”
NSCDA Chairman Seán Benton, GAA Director-General Páraic Duffy and NSCDA CEO Barry O’Brien
Fair play to the GAA for investing in infrastructure for Ireland’s youth. On a side note, wasn’t the state of the art facility that was developed in WIT Carriganore supposed to be a national centre for hurling & camogie. Has the camogie part now been moved to this new site?
So now the GAA have facilities for hurling and football to be nurtured. This is a game only played within our boarders with respect to New York and London. The FAI are 30 years behind this
€9m invested in another facility in dublin? Does that seem fair to the rest of the counties? Surely the GAA should be investing this money better. Again points to the obvious favouritism they have for dublin. Sickening.
Looks to me that they are just building a training facility for all the Dublin Co teams! One would think that money would be much better spent at grassroots level and to ensure the legacy of the game by promoting it to our children in a more modern and up to date way! I can only see this project benefiting the Dublin Co board . Not begrudging them but they all ready have some fine facilities up there in the capital, much finer facilities than most other counties!

What is this? A sports campus for ants? It needs to be at least….. Three times this big!
Looks like a good facility. On another note, that 3d image of is awful.
Fair play to the GAA for investing in infrastructure for Ireland’s youth. On a side note, wasn’t the state of the art facility that was developed in WIT Carriganore supposed to be a national centre for hurling & camogie. Has the camogie part now been moved to this new site?
Where exactly in blanchardstown is the site for this complex?
I think it’s near the NAC.. Near to Blanchardstown Industrial Park.
Great to see the GAA has given us handballers the two fingers, would have liked to see a few handball courts at the facility!
Why Dublin would it not be better of in th likes of atlone or somwhere easy for some of the weaker countys to use it.
Because nothing outside Dublin matters.
Yes Stephen you have to go to Dublin to get the best heroin….
Exactly
It’s the least they could do with the amount of money Dublin generate for the Association
@Dave
Yes, like I said, nothing outside Dublin matters.
Coola Boola. Where can I get some ?
@WilliePrice Dublin is easier to get to for most than Athlone is.
Gaa = Minted
Allows them to invest for the future and keep the sports strong
Well worth the admission fees throughout the year.
Looks great. Shame the FAI can’t be so inventive.
Anyone see Waterford institute of technology’s campus in Waterford? Unreal! State of the art stuff
So now the GAA have facilities for hurling and football to be nurtured. This is a game only played within our boarders with respect to New York and London. The FAI are 30 years behind this
There are 400 GAA clubs outside Ireland’s borders…
Looks great, and another feather in GAA’s hat, but is it needed?
Seems to be a very watery definition of who is actually going to train in it?
Ah white collar crime pays
The money was just resting in my account father ted stuff
Ah beries bowl we should have listened to him
Instead we get Berties bowels!
Is this in another part of Blanchardstown with a lousy bus service like the Aquatic center.
€9m invested in another facility in dublin? Does that seem fair to the rest of the counties? Surely the GAA should be investing this money better. Again points to the obvious favouritism they have for dublin. Sickening.
Did they erect a headstone yet on James Nowlans Grave ?
Looks like Malahide rugby club
Looks to me that they are just building a training facility for all the Dublin Co teams!
