Cork SHC quarter-finals
PATRICK O’ROURKE AND Shane Duggan got the goals as Na Piarsaigh booked their place in the Cork senior hurling semi-finals with a 2-16 to 0-17 win over Glen Rovers.
A close first half in Pairc Ui Chaoimh saw Na Piarsaigh go in a point in front at the break, 0-8 to 0-7 , but Glen took control after the restart and led by two before O’Rourke struck in the 40th minute.
Still there was little to choose between them until Duggan’s goal in the 47th minute opened up a four-point lead which saw Na Piarsaigh home.
They now play Bishopstown, Carrigtwohill or Midleton in the semi-finals on 20 October. Bishopstown and Carrigtwohill meet in one of two remaining Round 4 fixtures tomorrow.
Clare SHC
Clare champions Newmarket-on-Fergus made it two wins from two in Group 1 with a 1-18 to 1-8 win over Tulla in Clarecastle this afternoon.
In Group 2, Cratloe got their challenge back on track with a 2-22 to 2-06 win against St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield while in Group 3, U21 star Peter Duggan starred but couldn’t save Clooney/Quin from a 3-17 to 2-10 defeat against Sixmilebridge.
Kilkenny SHC relegation final
Fenians held on to their senior status with a dramatic 0-18 to 1-14 win over Graigue-Ballycallan in Palmerstown.
Fenians led by five at the break but they were reeled in early in the second half as Graigue posted an unanswered 1-5.
Graigue went two points up with 10 minutes remaining but a late rally saw Fenians claw them back before they clinched the win deep into stoppage time.
