VIDEO: France's Claire Lavogez scored a wonder goal at the U-20 Women's World Cup last night

Ridiculous build-up + unerring volley = outrageous strike.

THE UNDER-20 Women’s World Cup has been up and running for a few days now. It’s being held in various cities across Canada – where next year’s senior tournament will be played.

Last night in Montreal, France took on Costa Rica in their Group D opener and Les Bleus’ midfielder Claire Lavogez conjured a moment of genius to score her second of the game.

The flick, the slick passing and the movement brings back memories of Jack Wilshere’s goal for Arsenal against Norwich in last season’s Premier League.

But, Lavogez’s strike beats Wilshere’s hands-down. The technique, the accuracy, the perfectly-measured bend and dip. Magnificent stuff.

Afterwards, she told FIFA.com:

I don’t score too often. It’s just that, when I do, they tend to be spectacular.”

Today is a rest day at the tournament but on Friday, the hosts Canada are in action against Finland, desperately trying to bounce back from their recent defeat to Ghana.
