THE GROUP D match between Ukraine and France was suspended for 57 minutes on Friday evening after torrential rain and electrical thunderstorms in Donetsk forced the referee to stop play.

Bjorn Kuipers ordered the teams off after just five minutes with the game still tied at 0-0.

The game resumed shortly after 6pm Irish time — one hour after kick-off — after Kuipers inspected the pitch and declared it fit to play.
