FRANCE AND CASTRES full-back Brice Dulin is facing one to two months on the sidelines after being the victim of an attack that left him with a broken jaw.
The incident, confirmed to AFP by a Dulin text message, means he will certainly miss Castres’ preseason friendly with Connacht on 7 August, as well as the opening matches of the Top 14 season.
Dulin suffered a broken jaw in an attack on Friday during a festival in Mont-de-Marsan. The fullback and several Castres teammates had been showing off the French championship trophy they won in June after beating European champions Toulon in the final.
The former Agen player made his international debut against Argentina in 2012 and was the first-choice 15 for Philippe Saint-Andre until injury ruled him out of the Six Nations. He returned to finish the season well with his club and featured twice, this summer, against the All Blacks in New Zealand.
The 23-year-old has been ruled out of Castres’ first two Top 14 matches of the new season away to Perpignan and at home to Grenoble. Dulin should be back in plenty of time for the French side’s Heineken Cup clash with Leinster at the RDS, two months into the new season.
