BELFASTโS TITANIC QUARTER teems with history and tomorrow night, Carl Frampton bids to add a little piece of his own.
Frampton, the cityโs pride and joy, takes on Kiko Martinez for the IBF World Super-Bantamweight title in what has been billed as the biggest night of boxing ever to take place in Northern Ireland.
A 16,000-seat outdoor arena has been purpose built for the event in the shadow of the old Harland and Wolff cranes on the historic Titanic slipways.
Nicknamed โThe Jackalโs Denโ, this unique setting for Framptonโs date with destiny was the brainchild of Northern Irelandโs First Minister Peter Robinson.
Promoter Barry McGuigan said: โWe didnโt have a venue and I thought, โHow the hell did I not think of that?โ He came up with the Titanic Quarter which is fantastic.โ
Hereโs a look behind the scenes at how it all came together:

Hi Niall, just wondering if thereโs any statements from organisers of event on what it actually costs to create a venue from scratch on this scale. Itโs a brilliant unique idea and McGuigan and NI should be proud of how theyโve promoted but Iโm sure they would love to have a ready made venue to ease the purse a bit.
It was paid for by the NI assembly and the titanic quarter to promote the city, HBO who film in the Titanic paint hall provided the trailers used by Game Of Thrones as changing rooms
Gonna go for Frampton round 8 or 9
Rounds 4-5 I think . Pity itโs on box nation
Is this on tv tomorrow night?
