Bord Failte could not have made a better program advertising Ireland. He tried everything including tripe in Cork. The sun was shining everywhere and the helicopter shots were fantastic.

I actually like this show. Very enjoyable.

Michael Portillo is a fantastic host for this show. He did one on Switzerland that made me visit again recently and if it does the same for Irish tourism it’s a great thing.

The wonderful Waterford & Suir Valley steam train is featured tonight also. Well worth a look on the player.

Imagine the fun Micheal O’Muircheartaigh would have with that one “and its through to portillo, one of the toomevara portillos, his father played full back in the team that beat dublin in the all Ireland hurling final in 1930…”

When he said to Noel McGrath, “I’ll get your’ autograph later”, I’d say Joanne Ryan was a bit peeved! As as for his’ pronounciation of camogie? Cam oh jee! But those two faux-pas apart it’s a great programme & a super advertisement for Ireland; better than anything the Irish Tourist Board or Bord Fáilte could do.

Portillo is a Spanish name. His dad was Spanish . He loves Spain .

The series he did going from Bray to Derry was very good. Its great that hes come back for more and lets hope we get to see mentions of the disused lines out west.
