EITHER 40,000 ATLETICO Madrid fans have developed collective amnesia surrounding Fernando Torresโ performances over the last four years or they hope that giving him this kind of welcome will help reproduce the form he showed during his first stint with the club.
The Spaniard, who has scored just 21 goals in 120 appearances since leaving Liverpool, received a heroโs welcome in the Vicente Calderon when he was unveiled this morning.
Can such fervent support bring out the best in the striker again? Only time will tell.

Clearly the writer doesnโt know how special Torres is to Atletico fans. Made Captain at 19 and had he stayed, couldโve been one of their greatest players in their history. Think of Koke but twice as good, thatโs how good Torres was when he left, indeed he got even better at Liverpool before he went to Chelsea. I wouldnโt be at all surprised if Torres rediscovered some of his formerself at Atletico; he has the support of every fan, a good team around him, and one of the best managers in football in charge of him. I hope he succeeds, even if he was a bit of a pr*ck when he left Liverpool.
That headline is terrible. Tabloid stuff.
But the headline is right โ he has been terrible since 2011.
They changed it
Thatโs fair play. At least some of them do listen.
What did the original headline say?
โThey love him anywayโ was added to the original headline.
Bullshit headline and first paragraph. Typical of the way the score have been going the last few months though.
I totally agree Barry. It wouldnโt be lost in trashy uk tabloids.Thereโs certain stories that you canโt comment on too. The Journal had two stories on prince Andrew allegations. No comments allowed. Afraid of their own shadow.
Careful lads. They delete comments and ban users they dont like!
Called up โFennoโ for the Jack Grealish tweet in October and he didnโt like it at all and deleted a perfectly valid comment!
Some turnout for an unveiling, if that does not serve as inspiration to Torres then nothing will !
Donโt know what it is about Torres he always came across as a decent fella and a class act!..would love to see him get back some form and finish his career on a high!!
Chelsea fan here. Always liked the guy he gave some great performances but unfortunately never quite gelled despite the time he was given. He always had the price tag on his shoulder and couldnโt shake it. Hope he finds his form and I would love to see him back at his best!
Hopefully he regains his confidence there.hes always made an effort so best of luck to him
Must be handy making a wage with throw away comments and copy and paste
Not a hope in hell
