MAN UNITED MANAGER Alex Ferguson has said it is “ridiculous” that he could be without Wayne Rooney, among others, due to their Olympic commitments this summer.
Rooney is one of 12 players he could potentially lose temporarily, and the veteran manager expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, telling reporters:
“It’s ridiculous, it is utter chaos. There are so many complications.”
He added: “I have no idea how badly other clubs are affected but I would imagine Tottenham will have a few.”
Rooney, along with his Man United teammate Ryan Giggs, both made the shortlist of candidates to be selected, which was recently drawn up by British coach Stuart Pearce.
However, Ferguson previously claimed to have made an agreement with Pearce that none of the players participating in Euro 2012 would be made available for selection.
The London 2012 Olympic Games are due to take place from July 27 to August 12.
