Fairyhouse cleared for racing after inspection

Racing to go ahead on Wednesday.

AFTER AN INSPECTION by Turf Club officials earlier today, the track at Fairyhouse was found to be fit for racing with the going currently soft.

Racing will now go ahead on Wednesday.

RTE report that the programme will feature all graded races including the three Grade One races, The Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, The Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Steeplechase and The Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle.

And those races will be complemented by The Grade One John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Steeplechase and The Grade Two O’Connell Group Hilly Way Steeplechase.

The John Durkan was transferred to Fairyhouse on Wednesday after the cancellation of tomorrow’s meeting at Punchestown.

The fixture was originally scheduled for December 5 but that too fell to the weather, as did another attempt to stage the high-class card last Thursday.

Said acting racecourse manager Peter Roe:

We are monitoring the situation, but at the moment we are raceable.

The forecast is giving us a bit of cold weather on Tuesday evening, but at the moment it’s all systems go.

Declarations for the Fairyhouse Meeting on Wednesday must be made by 10am tomorrow.
