THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION of Ireland has this evening moved to confirm that their Twitter account has not been hacked today after an image of a Tweet purporting to be from the FAI’s account was circulated.
The generated Tweet, dressed with the association’s avatar, contained a racist message in relation to the retirement of ex-France striker Thierry Henry.
“We can confirm that this has nothing to do with us,” said a statement from the FAI.
“Our account has not been hacked. More importantly, racism has no place in society, no place in sport and no place in football. We say NO to racism.”
