Giovanni Trapattoni: preparation. INPHO/Cathal Noonan

FAI confirm warm-up friendlies ahead of Euro 2012 campaign

Bosnia and Herzogovina will visit the Aviva for the final home game while Trap’s side will visit Hungary before the championships in Poland and Ukraine.

SO, NOW WE know what’s ahead of us.

Ireland’s Euro 2012 hopefuls will play warm-up games against Bosnia and Herzogovina and Hungary in the run up to the summer’s European Championships.

The FAI have confirmed that as well as next month’s meeting with the Czech Republic in Dublin, Giovanni Trapattoni’s side will line out against the Bosnians at Lansdowne Road on 26 May.

The team will then travel for a week’s warm-weather training, probably in Montecatini, Tuscany, before lining out in Hungary 4 June, just days before the 10 June kick-off against Croatia in Poznan.

The Association have also said that ticket prices for the game with the Czechs will go on sale tomorrow at reduced ‘celebration rates’ of €20 for adults and €10 for kids.

Bosnia should consider themselves unlucky not to be at the euros, there a quality team..missed out on the world cup & euros to Portugal in the payoffs

Hungary will also provide a good test..who people expect us to play..Brazil & Argentina?.. Your not going to play against the top teams who qualified for the euros & there no point playing south americans in preperation for the euros

Yeah Bosnia are a quality side…. A late Nasri penalty for France against Bosnia in the last qualifying game put them into a playoff… They would have went through and France out if I remember correctly…

Both McLean and Duffy can pass the ball to a team mate and stokes scores goals so that rules all three out of traps plans. Can’t be having any of that fancy stuff going on

Why selling tickets for ” game with Czechs” if we are not playing them. I will send on my editors fee.

Bosnia are arguably the best team that did not qualify. They only lost out on automatic qualification by a dodgy France penalty. They’ll be ideal preparation for the Croatia game. Hungary are not up to much I believe, (but don’t really know) but we wouldn’t want two difficult games right before the tournament in any case. Should be decent games

yeah lets drop the team that got us to the championships in favour of a few young lads who have had a handfull of good games you ungrateful simpletons. Stay the fuck away from Poland this summer. I can just see you pissy wankers moaning about the cheap beer and beautiful women.

NO MOANING! WE ARE GOING TO A MAJOR TOURNAMENT!

What happened to the game against England? I thought it was agreed that if we didn’t draw them that they would be coming to the Aviva for a game?

Whilst i understand Bosnia & Herz is a good chance to test ourselevs against similar opponents to Croatia – who play a similar style of football, one would have to question why we are playing Hungary?

With the greatest of respect to Hungary, there are alot better teams in europe who have not qualified that may gives us a better test ahead of the Euro’s ( Belguim, Serbia or Norway).

Afterall we are competing in a group against Spain (current World and European champions) and Italy who have had their woe’s in recent times, but always a threat.

Hungary in Budapest are a very formidable side. They have a young team who play very good football. Two good choices. Anyway a week before the championships so it will just be a blowout.
