Keane and McCarthy scoop FAI Player of the Year awards

The annual awards were held at RTÉ studios this evening.

ROBBIE KEANE HAS been named FAI Senior International Player of the Year at the annual awards ceremony in Dublin tonight.

The 33-year-old LA Galaxy striker scored eights goals in 2013 to bring increase his all-time international record to 62 and wins the prize ahead of other nominees Seamus Coleman and David Forde.

Everton midfielder James McCarthy wins Young International Player of the Year, while Shane Long’s header against England was named Goal of the Year.

Louise Quinn is Women’s Senior International Player of the Year, Watford’s Sean Murray earned U21 prize, while St Patrick’s Athletic’s Killian Brennan was named the Airtricity League Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, former Irish international Ronnie Whelan was inducted into the FAI Hall of Fame, while Ciara Grant received the special merit award.
