Horror injury for Oviedo adds to Everton injury woes

The 23-year old suffered a suspected broken leg.

EVERTON MIDFIELDER BRYAN OVIEDO was taken to hospital after suffering a double fracture of his left leg during his side’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Stevenage today.

Roberto Martinez’s team were leading 1-0 when Oviedo was tackled by Stevenage’s Simon Heslop and the Costa Rica international appeared in some distress after the incident.

Oviedo needed lengthy treatment from medical staff and the extent of the injury was made clear when his team-mates,Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas, were left visibly distressed after checking on the 23-year old.

After being stretchered off he was taken immediately to hospital where he will have an operation on Monday.

With Oviedo’s injury as bad as first feared, he will face a race against time to recover for the World Cup in Brazil, where Costa Rica face England, Italy and Uruguay in the group stage.

Everton went on to win the game 4-0.
