Evra thanks Alex Ferguson as he walks away to Juventus on €1.5 million fee

The French international has signed a two-year deal with the Serie A champions.

FRENCH FULL BACK Patrice Evra has today confirmed his move from Manchester United to Juventus.

Now 33, Evra spent seven and a half years at Old Trafford, signing in January of 2006 from Monaco.

It is understood that the Serie A champions have paid €1.5 million for the player who signed a new contract with United in May with Evra earning €69,000 per week over a two-year deal.

In a statement released by the 61-cap international, Evra saved special praise for Alex Ferguson.

“An immense thank you to Sir Alex Ferguson for making it all possible, for giving me the privilege to be a captain, to be inspired by the legend of Manchester United and to understand that nobody is bigger than the club.”

In his time at Old Trafford, Evra won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, Club World Cup and three League Cups. He added that his time in England was ‘a dream come true’:

“After a great deal of thought I have decided the time is right for me to leave Manchester United. It is the biggest decision of my career as this club is, and will always remain, in my heart.

“Joining and playing for Manchester United has been a privilege, a dream come true and my time here has been so memorable. Through the good times and the bad times we have all stuck together and remained loyal. I have always said you don’t just join Manchester United, you join the family and long may that tradition continue.”
