Euro Vision: 4 continental games not to be missed this weekend

Winter is coming for some of the big European leagues but we’ve tried to pick out the best of the action.

SERIE A: Internazionale v Milan

Sunday, 19.45

It’s fair to say that fifth place Inter taking on 10th place Milan isn’t the sexiest Milan derby of all time  but it remains one of the biggest games in club football.

Inter will have to do without ‘home’ support for the game as the Italian FA have shut their fan’s stand for the game following some less-than-savoury behaviour from them on recent away trips.

Milan have kept just three clean sheets in the league this season and could struggle to contain Rodrigo Palacio whose nine goals makes him Inter’s top goalscorer this season.

BUNDESLIGA: Werder Bremen v Bayer Leverkusen

Saturday, 2.45pm

With Bayern Munich away at the FIFA Club World Cup, their Bundesliga rivals have a chance to close the gap this weekend. Five points clear of Dortmund in the third, Leverkusen are the best placed to take advantage though they can only reduce their deficit to four points with a win.

Luckily for Sami Hyypiä’s men, they face a Bremen team without a win in five, possessign the joint worst defensive record in the league and who have conceded a whopping 20 goals in that spell.

LIGUE 1: PSG v Lille

Sunday, 8pm

The last round of games in France before the winter break sees league leaders PSG host third place Lille with just four points separating the top three teams.

Incredibly, Lille have conceded just six goals in 18 games so far this season and they will need all of that defensive resistance on Sunday night as the face a PSG team who have scored a league-leading 42 goals.

Another problem for the visitors is their lack of goals, just 20 on the season and if the table-toppers go ahead early, it’s difficult to see Lille fighting back.

LA LIGA: Valencia v Real Madrid

Sunday, 8pm

After coming out on the wrong end of a 3-0 result last weekend, it doesn’t get much easier for Valencia as they host Real Madrid on Sunday night. Madrid have been less than impressive away from home this year but will look to last season when they won 5-0 at the Mestalla for inspiration.

A win for the home side could bump them up to seventh but their lack of goals this season (21) and leaky defence (26) doesn’t bode well for this encounter.
