Dubliner Eoin Morgan to captain England against Ireland next week

Cricket Ireland officials say next week’s clash at “Fortress Malahide” is on course to be a complete sell-out.

EOIN MORGAN HAS been named England captain for their one-day international against Ireland in Malahide.

In the absence of regular captain Alistair Cook, Dublin’s Morgan leads a 14-man squad for the game at Malahide Cricket Club next Tuesday, 3 September.

The visitors include another former Irish international with Boyd Rankin, who made his Twenty20 debut for England earlier this year, named among the attack.

Although England have rested a lot of the stars of their Ashes win over Australia, the side features six players with Test experience including fast bowler Steve Finn and one-day specialist Ravi Bopara.

Cricket Ireland officials say that the game at the revamped “Fortress Malahide”, which has a capacity of 10,000, is on course to be a complete sell-out.
