Jack Wilshere has been working on his best 'Blue Steel' for England's World Cup kit launch

The kit echoes “the glow of the armour worn by St. George,” according to Nike. So there.

HERE’S A LOOK at the jersey England will be wearing when they crash out of the World Cup on penalties this summer…

We’ll spare you the Nike spin (“We wanted to add some small detail that echoed the glow of the armour worn by St. George”) and the insight from Wayne Rooney (“I’m always proud to put on the England kit and with these ones it’ll be no different”) but we do want to show you the pictures.

If this football lark goes belly-up for Jack Wilshere, he’s got a promising career in modelling ahead of him.

Those photoshop people really earn their money – I mean, anyone who can make Rooney look thin deserves every single penny he/she is paid….!

Better crashing out at the WC than finishing 4th in the group and tailed off in the qualifiers.

England always have nice kits. Shame about the team playing in them.

I wrote about the ‘St George delusion’ some 12 years ago. Clearly it hasn’t gone away; in fact it has rarely been uttered so explicitly.
