IT’S SAFE TO say, Manchester United have endured another frustrating summer of transfer dealings.

Having come up short 12 months ago, chief executive Ed Woodward was desperate to flex the club’s financial muscle by backing new manager Louis van Gaal with the reinforcements he needed.

However, with nine days to go until the window shuts, the Red Devils have only managed to buy Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw (both lined up during the David Moyes era) and Argentine defender Marcos Rojo so far.
