TIPPERARY OFFICIALS MET with Eamon O’Shea yesterday as both parties moved closer to an agreement that should see the county’s senior hurling team manager remain in charge for the 2015 season.
While it is understood that some background issues remain to be ironed out, Galway-based O’Shea has softened on the stance he adopted in the immediate aftermath of last month’s All-Ireland final defeat to Kilkenny.
It was widely anticipated at the time that O’Shea would step aside after two years in charge but the Kilruane MacDonagh’s man has another year of a two-year deal to run.

If O’Shea opted out at this stage, Premier County top brass would find themselves desperately searching for a successor, with no obvious candidate available at the present time.
Both parties met late last week and again yesterday evening, with board officials confident that O’Shea will stay on.
There may be a shake-up in O’Shea’s backroom team, however, with at least one, if not two, members of the medical staff understood to be leaving the set-up of their own volition.
U21 Boss
Meanwhile, on the football front it is believed that two-time All Star Declan Browne will not be the new manager of the county’s U21 team.
That position has been vacated by David Power, the new Wexford football boss, and a representative from the Tipp senior management team is expected to fill the void, with an influx of U21 stars expected to link up with Peter Creedon’s senior squad next year.
Former senior star Browne was linked with the U21 post but sources have indicated that the Moyle Rovers clubman will not step into his first intercounty management role
Creedon has confirmed, meanwhile, that he will remain in charge of the senior team for the 2015 campaign, and he will be assisted by Michael McGeehan and Mick O’Loughlin once again.
Great game kk v tipp lots of new players on both sides performing well.
KK have definitely not gone away, loads to improve on but will still be there abouts .
@Martin McKenna: Kk have always been competitive, but I’d still worry about them winning things. This was in their home patch against a Tipp side missing guys such as Paudie Maher, Callanan, McGrath etc. I just don’t see that killer instinct any more.
@John: kilkenny are missing just as many of their A team as Tipp, if not more.
For both teams to score over 2-20 today is a testament to their hurling traditions.
Great day to bring in some of the younger lads. Paddy Deegan had a great game. I think when both teams have their full strength teams they would take a bit of beating. Wide open this year.
All Tipp fans on here saying that KK not missing the same level of player as ye……Seamus Callanan and Richie Hogan are the same level, Colin Fennelly and John O’Dwyer both on the same level, Padraig Maher, Noel McGrath, John McGrath, all the same level as Padraig Walsh, Paul Murphy and Conor Fogarty. Both teams missing huge players but don’t be making excuses. Great match and new players tried on both team. That will do Kilkenny’s confidence a world of good.
@Kieran Fennelly: colin fennely wudnt lace john o dwyers boots. John o dywer is the most gifted hurler in the country. Kilkenny shud be thanking tipp for playing a second string otherwise they wud have been in a relagtion battle next week.
@John: think Tipp & KK are doing just enough to stay up in Div.1 and a playoff spot would be a bonus if one of them gets it, but neither will lose sleep if they don’t. They’re both clearly focused on Squad-development for the Championship.
@John: the same John o Dwyer who shit himself in 2014 when he had the chance to win the allireland compare that to fennelly who ripped Galway apart in 2015 stop talking shite o Dwyer dissappears when the pressure comes on

Some game, what is it about these Tipp Kk matches
@Noel Ryan: That penalty was clearly wide ffs, knew it would be the difference in the end
Sc’wan Clare
Cats don’t have rely on Reid
Im actually shocked tipp are anyway close considering the team the kilkenny of old wud hav hammered this team.
@John: yeah and the tipp team of 2010 would have hammered this kilkenny team. Your point makes no sense.
Kilkenny are back . Unfortunately
@Finnster: they look like they found one or two but some reliance on tj tipperary looking decent with all these new players
@Finnster: Tipp are practically playing with a whole new team. No Paudi Maher even. I know Kk missing a few but they’re not on the same level
@Finnster: will u stop tipp missing 10 first team players gud run out for a few lads
@Jason Pierce: will stop tipp were missing 5 of the best forwars in the country. The players kilkenny were missing are not on their level.
@John: @John: Tipp are living in Kilkenny’s shadow for the last 20 years. And no Tipp don’t have 5 of the 6 best forwards in the country.
@John Jones: whos better?
@John: think Tipp & KK are doing just enough to stay up in Div.1 and a playoff spot would be a bonus if one of them gets it, but neither will lose sleep if they don’t. They’re both clearly focused on Squad-development for the Championship.
@John: TJ Reid, Joe Canning, Richie Hogan for a start
@John Jones: Tipp have 3 all Ireland’s in 25 years. Ye are and always were an average team.
@Maureen: If Tipp are average, what are Galway, Cork, Waterford, Clare etc? They must be brutal altogether in your eyes
@John: the same John o Dwyer who shit himself in 2014 when he had the chance to win the allireland compare that to fennelly who ripped Galway apart in 2015 stop talking shite o Dwyer dissappears when the pressure comes on
@Maureen: will you be supporting Galway this year again?
@Tom Dowling: ya he dissapeared in 2016 too to the pub celebrating after he stuck 1 – 5 pass ye.
Lively game so far. Tipp wasting a lot
Cmon Galway. Great to see them back and getting stuck into the Dubs
