Pastures new: Dunne takes charge at Wexford

The former All-Ireland winner was ratified last night, despite previously ruling himself out of contention for the job.

WEXFORD SENIOR HURLERS have appointed Liam Dunne as their new manager following the departure of Colm Bonnar last July.

The appointment comes after a disappointing summer for Wexford, in which they exited the All-Ireland early, losing 1-22 to 2-13 in a qualifier against Limerick – a result which prompted Bonnar to offer his resignation.

Former All-Ireland winner Liam Griffin had been given the task of appointing a new boss, while Ger Doyle, Brendan Maher, Billy Byrnand, Darragh Ryan were also part of the selection committee.

Dunne previously managed Oulart the Ballagh, and oversaw their shock victory against James Stephens at the weekend.

He was also part of the Wexford side that won the All-Ireland in 1996.
