Pre-season GAA? Here's your weekly fix

It’s the last weekend of action before the commencement of the Allianz Football Leagues.

IT’S THE LAST week of January and the provincial pre-season GAA is drawing to a close.

The Gaelic football competitions in the four provinces conclude this weekend.

While the hurling fare in Munster and Leinster intensifies with heavyweights like Kilkenny, Galway and Tipperary all making their seasonal bows.

There are 20 games in all scheduled to be played.

In Connacht the focus is on Sunday’s FBD League decider.

Sunday
FBD League final:
Sligo v Leitrim, Markievicz Park, 2pm, (Ref: Jerome Henry, Mayo)

In Leinster, the Bord Na Móna GAA series continues with the O’Byrne Cup final taking centre stage on Saturday night but there are also four Walsh Cup ties and eight games in the Kehoe Cup.

O’Byrne Cup final:

In Munster the McGrath Cup decider will be contested by Kerry and Tipperary on Saturday. While the Waterford Crystal Cup reaches the quarter-final stage over the weekend.

McGrath Cup final: Kerry v Tipperary, Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary Town, 2.30pm, (Ref: James Bermingham, Cork).
Waterford Crystal Cup quarter-final: Cork v Waterford IT, Páirc Uí Rinn, 2pm, (Ref: Shane Hourigan, Limerick).
Sunday~
Waterford Crystal Cup quarter-final:
Tipperary v Limerick, MacDonagh Park, Nenagh, 2pm, (Ref: Colm Lyons, Cork); Clare v UL, Sixmilebridge, 2pm, (Ref: John Sexton, Cork).
And finally in Ulster, the Dr McKenna Cup will feature Tyrone and Monaghan on Saturday night.
