The rock legend’s daughter is competing in the RDS this week.

THE 2014 DISCOVER Ireland Dublin Horse Show got under way in the RDS this morning with world renowned Irish and international riders competing, including the daughter of rock icon Bruce Springsteen.

The 141st edition of the event will feature some 1300 horses and ponies taking part in over 120 competitions for a total prize fund just short of €1million.

Friday’s Nations’ Cup, Sunday’s Grand Prix and Saturday’s Puissance are once again the feature events with Ireland one of eight countries competing for the Nations Cup on August 8.

Irish show jumping manager Robert Splaine has had to make one change to his squad for Friday with Darragh Kenny replacing Billy Twomey.

The full team is:

Bertram Allen – Molly Malone V
Darragh Kenny – Imothep
Dermott Lennon – Loughview Lou Lou (ISH)
Denis Lynch – All Star 5
Cian O’Connor – Quidam’s Cherie

Among the international jumpers taking part is Jessica Springsteen, the 22-year old daughter of The Boss who is expected to be in attendance during the week.

Springsteen is making her debut at the RDS – a venue her dad has played nearly a dozen times – but is a world-renowned jumper in her own right.

The American and Davendy S clocked 56.16 in their first competition this morning, The Speed Stakes, just over a second behind the current best time.
