No away day for Dubs supporters as Leinster Council vote for home comforts

You can put the maps away.

DUBLIN FOOTBALLERS WON’T be forced to check their Google Maps app next year as the Leinster Council has voted to keep the 2013 All-Ireland champions in Croke Park.

With Dublin drawn to play Longford or Offaly in the Leinster quarter-final, there had been speculation that Jim Gavin’s men might take a rare trip out of the capital.

However, last night the Leinster Council voted to schedule the game for headquarters where it will most likely form part of a double-header with the hurling quarter-final between Dublin and Galway.

Had Dublin played away from home, it would have marked the first occasion since their Leinster first-round clash with Longford in 2006, which was played in Pearse Park.

Before that, the last time Dublin played a game outside Croke Park in the provincial championship was 2002.
