Jim Gavin unveils new-look Dubs team

Recent All-Ireland U21 winners will get their chance to impress against Cork tomorrow night.

DUBLIN MANAGER Jim Gavin has handed several players the chance to impress for Saturday’s Allianz League Division 1 clash with Cork.

Only seven players that started in last year’s All-Ireland semi-final loss to Mayo are in the team for the Croke Park tie.

Given their chance to shine in defence are Kevin O’Brien and Jack McCaffrey, both members of the Dublin U21 team that won the All-Ireland last year.

Johnny Cooper, an All-Ireland U21 victor in 2010, is named at corner-back while Darren Daly starts at half-back.

2003 All-Ireland U21 medallist Declan O’Mahony will link up with club colleague Michael Darragh MacAuley at midfield.

And in attack Paddy Andrews starts at centre-forward with Tyrone native Paddy Quinn on the wing.

Stephen Cluxton, Rory O’Carroll, Ger Brennan, Michael Darragh MacAuley, Paul Flynn, Diarmuid Connolly and Bernard Brogan are the survivors form the starting fifteen that were defeated by Mayo last September.

While corner-forward Kevin McManamon came on as a substitute during that game.
