Kenyan’s Eliud Too and Esteher Macharia claimed the honours in the men’s and women’s races respectively.

KENYA’S ELIUD TOO won the 2014 SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon this morning on a time of 2:14:48, nine seconds clear of his closest challenger and fellow countryman Paul Koech Kimutai.

Moldovan international Sergiu Ciobanu, who represents Clonliffe Harriers, claimed the Irish title, while finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:21:01. Barry Minnock and Eoin Flynn finished in second and third in the Irish men’s category respectively.

In the women’s race, defending champion Marie McCambridge finished in second place, just four seconds behind the Kenyan winner Esteher Macharia.

McCambridge did take the Irish title, with 2008 Olympian Pauline Curley the second best of the Irish and Ailish Malone in third.

Patrick Monaghan from Naas was first across the line in the wheelchair event.
