DIDIER DROGBA HAS committed his future to Shanghai Shenua, it was confirmed this morning.

The Champions League winner has committed to a two and a half year deal with the Chinese outfit, which runs until the end of 2014.

“I have considered all the offers I have received in the past few weeks,” said a statement on Drogba’s website.

“But I feel that Shanghai Shenhua FC is the right move for me at this time.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge and to experiencing a new culture, and I am excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League. When Chelsea went to China last year, we had a great time and I met some amazing fans.”

Drogba follows in the footsteps of Nicolas Anelka, who joined Shenua early this year. The pair will revive a strike partnership which is sure to be more potent in China than it was in the Premier league.

The deal is worth a reported £25M for the 34-year-old Drogba, who added:

“I hope to help promote Chinese football around the world and further improve the links between China and Africa.”
