THE FAI CLAIM there is still a chance Kevin Doyle could be fit for Ireland’s crucial World Cup qualifiers, with the striker set to undergo a scan on a thigh injury tomorrow, according to the organisation’s official Twitter account.
The Wolves striker looked set to miss Ireland’s games against Germany and the Faroe Islands, after picking up the injury while training with his club today.
Speaking to reporters earlier, Wolves manager Stale Solbakken ruled Doyle out of the upcoming qualifiers after he picked up the knock.
Should it be confirmed, the news would come as a blow to Giovanni Trapattoni’s men, after Doyle played a vital role in helping the side secure a dramatic late victory against Kazakhstan last month.
Ireland play Germany at home on 12 October, before their game in the Faroes four days later.
