Doubt?: Chiellini's Euro preparation disrupted by thigh strain

The Italian centre half is expected to be fit just in time for the meeting with Spain. The same goes for Montolivio, De Rossi and Giovinco.

JUVENTUS DEFENDER GIORGIO Chiellini is expected to be fit for Italy’s Group C opener against Spain at this summer’s European Championship.

Chiellini suffered a muscle strain in his right thigh in the biancoeneri’s final Serie A game of the season against Atalanta.

The 27-year-old will miss out on Juve’s appearance in the final of the Coppa Italia this Sunday.

But after undergoing scans on the problem, is expected to return to full fitness in (the remarkably precise prediction of) 20 days.

The Azzuri’s other injury worries are also expected to be fully fit in time for the clash with the world champions.

Football Italia reports that Daniele De Rossi (fractured hand), Riccardo Montolivo (thigh) and Sebastian Giovinco (knee) will all be fit for the June 10 fixture in Gdansk.

Ireland play Italy in the final Group C match on June 18.
