Dortmund players pull pints to apologise for lack of points in Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund sit bottom of the league after a string of poor results.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND FANS have become accustomed to success since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp in 2008.

Having challenged for honours in Klopp’s first two seasons with the club, they won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012 and finished runners up in the Champions League in 2013.

However, this season has not been so good with Dortmund propping up the table on 11 points having lost eight of their 13 games so far. Perennial rivals Bayern Munich, on the other hand, sit atop the Bundesliga on 33 points.

To apologise for their short-comings in 2014 and to thank their loyal fans, the players went behind the bar at their Christmas party to pull pints for the 1,000 or so supporters who turned up.

Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, alongside the likes of Mats Hummels and Marco Reus, also signed autographs for fans.

Well Bayern Munich will have another title then, Dortmund are the closest to them quality wise….can’t see Wolfsburg or Schalke making much of a challenge for the title.

Been honest Dortmund are actually behind the likes of Wolfsburg and Leverkussen. They have a real lack of quality up front. Ramos and Immobile just don’t cut it.

Immobile has the potential to be very good. It will just take him time to get used to German football

Ramos scored 15+ goals in the Bundesliga last season also Schalke haven’t won a league title in over 50 years.

Fair play to them, maybe QPR should do the same, imagine Rio and Joey having to pull pints. Well in Joeys case I wouldn’t order any cigars from the bar. Hope Dortmund pull themselves up the table, good team, good club.

Schalke…… Are they any good at all? Every year in the champions league but never seem to be in trouble of winning the bundesliga? Are they like arsenal?

Small thing but Mats Hummels is Dortmund captain not Weidenfeller. Do ye ever fact check on this site?

    Hey Mark,

Apologies for that. It was a genuine error as I’d originally started the sentence with Hummels but switched it for Weidenfeller and forgot to change captain for goalkeeper.

Thanks for the heads up and it’s changed now.

    Steve
