DONEGAL GAA CHIEFS have expressed their annoyance at an injury sustained by attacker Patrick McBrearty in last Sunday’s tie against Dublin.
The Division 1 football league tie took place in Ballybofey with the teams finishing level at 1-10 to 0-13.
However TheScore.ie understands McBrearty was allegedly the victim of a bite to his shoulder during the game.
The Kilcar forward received treatment from Donegal medics at half-time of the incident and received further treatment on Sunday evening at Letterkenny General Hospital.
The incident has annoyed leading officials in the county but it is unclear whether any action will be taken if the referee Padraig Hughes did not see the incident.
The Armagh whistler was forced to leave the game during the second-half after injuring his ankle with Sligo’s Marty Duffy taking his place instead.
McBrearty is the star player for the Donegal U21 footballers who feature in the Cadbury’s Ulster U21 football final tomorrow night in Enniskillen against Cavan.
Donegal are chasing their first title since 2010 and McBrearty has notched 0-12 in their two victories to date over Tyrone and Derry. He is expected to be fit to play in that game.
