LIMERICK ARE HOPEFUL that captain Donal O’Grady will be fit for their All-Ireland semi-final against Kilkenny after a calf injury ruled him out of today’s quarter-final win over Wexford.
Last year’s Munster title-winning captain was unavailable for Limerick today as he was a late withdrawal from their starting fifteen before throw-in at Semple Stadium with Thomas Ryan starting in his place.
The news looked a setback to Limerick after O’Grady’s excellent form in the Munster championship but TJ Ryan’s side coped and claimed a comprehensive 24-point win.
And manager Ryan is optimistic that O’Grady will be back available for the Croke Park showdown on August 10th with Kilkenny.
Donal O’Grady has a calf injury for the last couple of weeks,” revealed Ryan. “We ruled him out and hopefully we’ll have him back in two weeks time when we need him.”
Limerick also lost Declan Hannon during the game when he suffered a cut to his head but the injury was not serious and the Adare man is expected to recover.
