Disappointment for Roche as Britain’s Wiggins triumphs

The result leaves Roche in 16th place overall, and he is currently three minutes and 26 seconds behind leader, Bradley Wiggins of Britain.

NICHOLAS ROCHE FINISHED in 43rd place at the Criterium du Dauphine today, as the event continued with its third stage.

Roche finished an impressive ninth yesterday, but could not match his previous performance, finally finishing three minutes and 31 seconds behind stage winner Tony Martin.

The result leaves Roche in 16th place overall, and he is currently three minutes and 26 seconds behind leader, Bradley Wiggins of Britain.

The Irishman expressed his displeasure with the performance, tweeting: “Not as good as I wanted! Prety desapointed Promise to ride agressive in the montains! Will not let go! Thanks for all the suport on twiter.” [sic]

Meanwhile, there was success for Britain’s Wiggins who gained the lead today, taking the yellow jersey with a time of 55 minutes and 39 seconds.

His second-place finish behind Germany’s Martin was enough to establish an overall lead, and he now finds himself one minute and 11 seconds ahead of Australia’s Cadel Evans in the general classification.
