'Devastated' JT wants Chelsea to retire Lampard's No8 shirt

The Chelsea captain is upset at the news that his long-time team-mate looks set to leave the London club.

JOHN TERRY HAS further added to speculation over the future of Frank Lampard by saying that he would like to see his team-mate’s number 8 shirt retired.

Lampard is believed to be on his way out of Chelsea at the end of this season when his current contract is up and the 34-year-old’s agent Steve Kutner was quoted last night as saying that his departure is “certain”.

Club captain Terry, who is a regular user of social media site Instagram, posted an old picture of himself and Lampard holding the FA Cup trophy this morning as well as the words:

Devastated is an understatement. We should retire the number 8 shirt in honour of Lamps.”

The posts unsurprisingly received huge attention as Terry and Lampard have been close friends for over a decade. However, he has since explained that he has no inside information on the situation by writing: “I have seen Frank’s agent’s quotes on Sky yesterday. That’s all I’m going on nothing more.”
