THIS OFFICIATING CONTROVERSY left Laois stumped in Sunday’s National Football League Division 2 defeat to Derry.
Ross Munnelly looked to have kicked Justin McNulty’s side into a three-point lead when this effort appeared to sail between the posts, hit the back stanchion and bounce back out in to play.
But none of the officials signalled for a point and after consulting with his umpires, referee Joe McQuillan ruled that the ball had not gone over the bar and gave a wide instead.
