England call on Wilson for Twickenham battle against Cian Healy

Stuart Lancaster has made just one change to his starting XV to face Ireland.

ENGLAND HAVE TURNED to David Wilson for Saturday’s Triple Crown showdown against Ireland.

The Bath tighthead will go head-to-head with Cian Healy in Twickenham after he was drafted into the front row in place of the injured Dan Cole.

Wilson is the only change to the starting XV while his teammate George Ford is preferred to Brad Barritt as the backup out-half.

“We have been forced into one change and we wish Dan Cole all the best for his recovery,” head coach Stuart Lancaster said.

“However, David Wilson is an experienced international with 31 caps and he showed in his three starts against Argentina last year what he can do.

“We’ve made an active decision to go with George Ford on the bench as we believe that he is ready for the next step in his development and we are confident he will make an impression should he come on.”

Ireland are due to name their squad this afternoon.

England XV: Mike Brown; Jack Nowell, Luther Burrell, Billy Twelvetrees, Jonny May; Owen Farrell, Danny Care; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley, David Wilson; Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes; Tom Wood, Chris Robshaw (c), Billy Vunipola.

Replacements: Tom Youngs, Mako Vunipola, Henry Thomas, Dave Attwood, Ben Morgan, Lee Dickson, George Ford, Alex Goode.
